RoboApe

Smart Contract Audit Report

Audit Summary

RoboApe is a new ERC-20 token that pays static rewards to holders.

For this audit, we reviewed the RoboApe contract provided to us by the project team.

Audit Findings

Please ensure trust in the team prior to investing as they have substantial control in the ecosystem.
Date: May 25th, 2022.

Finding #1 - RoboApe - High (Resolved)

Description: Any user can set the maximum transaction amount, maximum wallet amount, and the threshold number of tokens that triggers the automatic burning functionality to any values at any time.
Risk/Impact: Any user can nefariously set these values and place restrictions on all token transfers on the platform.
Recommendation: The setMinimumTokensBeforeSwapAmount(), setMaxTransactionAmount(), and setMaxWallet() functions should all enforce the onlyOwner modifier.
Resolution: The team has implemented the above recommendation.

Finding #2 - RoboApe - Informational

Description: Although the SafeMath library is utilized, the contract is implemented with Solidity v0.8.x which has built-in overflow checks.
Recommendation: SafeMath could be safely removed to reduce contract size & deployment costs, and increase gas savings on all transactions that reference it.

Contract Overview

  • The total supply of the token will be set upon initialization and minted to the owner.
  • No mint functions are accessible beyond deployment.
  • Any user can utilize the burn function to send their own tokens to the 0x..dead address.
  • Any user can send tokens to the 0x..dead address on behalf of another user if an allowance has been granted.
  • There was no token allocation for our team to analyze as the contract has yet to be deployed to the mainnet.

  • Trading must be enabled by the owner before all transfers can take place on the platform. Only accounts that have been excluded from fees can participate in transfers when trading is disabled. Once trading is enabled, it can never be disabled.
  • The contract enforces a maximum transaction amount (determined by the owner) which imposes a limit to the number of tokens that can be transferred via Uniswap in a single transaction.
  • The contract enforces a maximum wallet amount that prevents a transfer from occurring if the recipient's token balance will exceed the limit number of tokens (determined by the owner) after the transfer occurs.
  • A gas price limit (determined by the owner) is enforced on all buy transactions when the gas price functionality is enabled by the team.
  • The contract enforces a transfer delay on non-sell transactions, that prevents a transfer from occurring if the user is attempting to transfer tokens more than one time per block.
  • Blacklisted accounts are prohibited from transferring tokens.
  • There is a Tax fee and a Burn fee on all transfers where neither the sender nor the recipient is excluded from fees. A separate fee structure can be set by the team to apply different fee percentages depending on whether the transaction is a buy or a sell.
  • The tokens collected through the Tax fee are removed from the circulating supply; This serves as a frictionless fee redistribution that automatically benefits all token holders at the time of each transaction.
  • The tokens collected from the Burn fee are stored in the contract address. The tokens are sent to the 0x..dead address when the following conditions are met:
    • The automatic burning functionality is enabled by the team.
    • The threshold number of tokens (determined by the owner) in the contract address has been reached.
    • The contract is not currently performing an automatic burn.
    • The caller is initiating a sell transaction via Uniswap.
    • The Uniswap Pair address holds at least 1 token.
  • The contract is upgradeable meaning the team can swap the current contract for a new one at any time.
  • The contract utilizes the SafeMath library to protect against overflows/underflows.
  • The contract complies with the ERC-20 token standard.
Ownership Controls:
  • The owner can set total fees on sells up to 30% and total fees on buys up to 20%.
  • The owner can exclude and include accounts from transfer fees and reward distribution.
  • The owner can add/remove accounts from the transfer blacklist at any time.
  • The owner can manually trigger a buyback which will swap a specified amount of ETH in the contract for RoboApe and send it to the 0x..dead address.
  • The owner can airdrop any number of tokens to any address at any time. A for loop is used to transfer funds for the airdrop; The team must ensure the maximum number of addresses that can be involved in a single airdrop is no more than 350 to prevent this loop from hitting the block gas limit.
  • The owner can set the maximum transaction amount and maximum wallet amount to any values at any time.
  • The owner can exclude and include accounts from the maximum transaction amount and maximum wallet amount restrictions at any time.
  • The owner can enable/disable the gas price limit restriction at any time.
  • The owner can set the gas price limit restriction to any value at any time.
  • The owner can disable the transfer delay at any time.
  • The owner can withdraw any tokens (besides the RoboApe token) from the contract at any time.
  • The owner can set the threshold number of tokens that triggers the automatic burning functionality to any value at any time.
  • The owner can enable/disable the automatic burning functionality at any time.
  • The owner can set the threshold number of tokens that triggers the automatic burning functionality to any value at any time.
  • The owner can update the Automated Market Maker Pair address at any time.

What is a SourceHat Audit?

Typically, a smart contract audit is a comprehensive review process designed to discover logical errors, security vulnerabilities, and optimization opportunities within code. A SourceHat Audit takes this a step further by verifying economic logic to ensure the stability of smart contracts and highlighting privileged functionality to create a report that is easy to understand for developers and community members alike.

How Do I Interpret the Findings?

Each of our Findings will be labeled with a Severity level. We always recommend the team resolve High, Medium, and Low severity findings prior to deploying the code to the mainnet. Here is a breakdown on what each Severity level means for the project:

  • High severity indicates that the issue puts a large number of users' funds at risk and has a high probability of exploitation, or the smart contract contains serious logical issues which can prevent the code from operating as intended.
  • Medium severity issues are those which place at least some users' funds at risk and has a medium to high probability of exploitation.
  • Low severity issues have a relatively minor risk association; these issues have a low probability of occurring or may have a minimal impact.
  • Informational issues pose no immediate risk, but inform the project team of opportunities for gas optimizations and following smart contract security best practices.
